Frequently Asked Questions
What are the main parts of Kubernetes architecture?
A control plane that stores and manages cluster state, and worker nodes that run Pods. The API server connects them.
How do nodes communicate with the control plane?
Nodes talk to the API server, and the control plane reaches nodes through the kubelet. The official docs on control plane to node communication explain the secure channels.
What is the best order to read these?
Start with Components and Cluster Architecture, then Nodes, Control Plane-Node Communication and Pods, then an explainer to see a request flow end to end.

Which Kubernetes components are being deprecated?
The v1.37 release notes say no new kube-dns packages are expected after v1.40, so users should plan to move to CoreDNS. The ipvs mode of kube-proxy is expected to be disabled by default by v1.40 and removed by v1.43. Support for cgroup v1 is planned for removal in a future release, and since v1.35 the failCgroupV1 setting has defaulted to true.
